Joy in Motion

Our weekly community based classes invite people living with dementia and their friends & family members to dance together

Joy in Motion is an accessible, inclusive dance space for older adults—especially those living with dementia—where movement becomes a way to reconnect, uplift, and share something meaningful together.

Rooted in a gentle, supportive approach, sessions invite people to move in ways that feel right for their bodies, whether seated or standing, with no steps to remember and no pressure to “get it right.” Instead, the focus is on creativity, connection, and joyful movement—creating a calm, welcoming environment where everyone can take part at their own pace.

For many, these sessions become far more than a weekly class. Participants describe them as “the most uplifting part of my week” and something they can enjoy alongside loved ones—strengthening relationships while reducing isolation and supporting shared wellbeing.

Alongside the physical benefits, Joy in Motion enhances quality of life—supporting mood, confidence, and a sense of belonging—while reminding everyone involved that there is still so much joy, expression, and connection to be found through movement.
